How does someone receive your services?

There is a waitlist that is monitored by Kepro. Various providers communicate with Kepro when they have the availability to take on another client within their agency. In order to receive RCS services you or your child must:

  • Have a diagnosis of a developmental disability/delay.

  • Have a diagnosis of a mental health disorder.

  • Have MaineCare (if you or your child are in need of services but do not have MaineCare check your eligibility for Katie Beckett foundation here.)

  • Are under the age of 21.

  • If over the age of 5 the child must have an up to date Functional Assessment Evaluation (must be completed within the last two years).

  • Be referred either by provider or by self to be added to the 28-RCS Waitlist.

Can we request Shine Above to be our child's provider?

Yes! When filling out the referral indicate you'd like Shine Above as a preferred provider. If you are selected off the waitlist before Shine Above has availability you will have the option to go with another provider who has availability, or wait until Shine Above is able to provide services to you/your child.

How long does a child normally receive your services?

The goal is to increase each child's independence however each child's discharge plan differs. We offer individualized services for each child we serve so there is not a set time frame that a child will receive services. Typically services last 1-2 years but with each child it varies.
